ALL IN THE DETAILS: CEMENT TILES

Cement tiles are a decor trend I'm loving these days. Beautiful bathrooms and laundry rooms provide great inspiration on how to implement a lot of pattern, without getting too overwhelmed. Here are a few of my favorite examples - and scroll through to the bottom to find some great affordable sources.

Home Tour: Airy and Inviting In West Hampton

So exciting to see my friends' beautiful modern beach house in this month's Hampton's Cottages and Gardens Architecture Issue!  Highlighting the work of their talented architect, Stuart Diston of Austin Patterson Disston Architects and the interior design firm, of Ornstein Rabiner, it was so fun to see this chic home featured in a publication I know and love. Having just visited with my friends in their fabulous abode a few weeks ago, I can attest to the fact that this home is even more beautiful in person.

Weekend Wrap Up

We've only got one more trip up to Rhode Island on the calendar this summer - and then pre-season, over scheduled kids's schedules and college visits take over our lives. I'm determined to squeeze in as much sun, fun and relaxation as I can, while I still can!

Fall Preview

Here in Connecticut, the temps cooled down for a few days last week, which immediately made me think about new clothes for fall. Since I never really want summer to end, all the new fall fashion options always seem like the perfect antidote to back to school/back to reality stress and anxiety. Even just perusing the early offerings at some of my favorite online retailers made me feel a bit better. Here are a few things I've got my eye on, plus the one pair of shoes I've already gone ahead and ordered - these booties - officially obsessed!

The Vogue Living Collection For Schumacher

This summer I've been terrible about keeping up with my email inbox. Yesterday, I got a chance to finally go through it properly- and not a moment too soon as I almost missed this gem from Schumacher's latest press release...

"The Vogue Living Collection, inspired by the Vogue archives, is a modern take on English Country. The collection signals a return to proper decorating with this updated, eclectic family of romantic florals, sartorial stripes, charming checks and subtle sheers. The designs embody the best of Brit style with sophisticated color stories and endless opportunities to mix and match a variety of gorgeous must-have patterns. Whatever the mood – eccentric and bright, broody and deep, quiet and tonal – Vogue Living offers the elements you need to create an interior with a distinct personality and unique point of view.

“In collaborating with Dara Caponigro and her team on this exciting project we looked both to evocative prints and textiles in Schumacher’s remarkable historic archive, and to the work of some of the great Jazz Age Vogue illustrators, elements of which we have worked into innovative new designs, treatments and color stories,” said Hamish Bowles, the International Editor at Large for Vogue “In doing so, we created a collection that pays homage to some of the great tastemakers whose instincts for fashion, style, and interiors has shaped the look of Vogue through the decades.”
